Painting 3: Finished

When asked what I think of Madonna’s gapped front teeth, my answer is always the same, beautiful. Beauty lies in the flaw and flaws are what make things interesting and unique. Think of a wood knot, it’s a particular type of imperfection that is desirable to add visual interest and beauty.
For painting 3, I wanted to introduce imperfection to an otherwise perfect face to make it unique and interesting. To me, this type of distorted beauty allows you to interpret a painting more and imagine even further distortions. With the individual MDF slats, I am able to move the face as desired to create distortion and communication between the two faces.
